I am starting a garden. This was decided today while at Lowes with my husband. We took his mother to buy some topsoil and I was drawn to the seeds. I picked some Tomatoes, Pumpkins, and Watermelons because 1) I love tomatoes 2) pumpkins will be nice for Halloween and Thanksgiving and 3) watermelon and Summer to hand in hand. We also got a cute little Grow Your Own Garden Kit for a "mid-summer edible garden" that includes Garlic, Onions, Potatoes, and Strawberries. Jeff's step-dad gave us some garden tools, we didn't have any since this is our first planting season in our own home.
I was raised by my Great-Aunt and Uncle and Great Grandmother, they had a garden every year, they grew tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, strawberries and okra. I miss going out to the garden and eating fresh picked strawberries, so we are going to have that for Aedan.
Tomorrow we are going to clean up the soon-to-be garden and do our planting, all of the seeds are April-June planting season in may area. I am very excited to start this project and I am going to do my best to keep track of things on this blog.
